Lice Lessons/Life Lessons

The National Association of School Nurses states:

"Head lice are a common community problem. An estimated 6-12 million infestations occur each year in the United States, most commonly among children ages 3 to 11 years old.  Though a head lice infestation is often spotted in school, it is usually acquired through direct head-to-head contact elsewhere, such as sleepovers or camp.

Head lice are not dangerous, and they do not transmit disease. Additionally, despite what you might have heard, head lice often infest people with good hygiene and grooming habits. Your family, friends, or community may experience head lice. It's important to know some basics, including how to recognize symptoms and what to do if faced with an infestation."

Our district's school nurses have provided some helpful information regarding head lice.  Check out this link for additional information.

Project H.A.T.S. (Helping A Texas School)

Fielding Elementary will be joining other schools in our district in some much needed service! We will be adopting an elementary school in Houston, one that has been affected by the recent hurricane and subsequent flooding. We are currently in the process of being matched with a specific school. We will be collecting donations of basic school supplies (listed below) and taking monetary donations. (Please make any checks out to Fielding Elementary.) Once we are assigned our specific school, we will use the donated money to purchase specific items online and have them shipped directly to the school.

Our students will have the opportunity to serve in many ways, including: collecting items for donation, earning and donating money, organizing and boxing supplies, and writing notes of encouragement, love, and support. We’ll include the notes in our shipment!

King Farms Trucking will be sending a truck with the donated items next Friday...so we don’t have much time! Please pass the word along and have anyone wishing to donate bring their contributions to the school. Thanks for your help! Together, we can make a difference for some students in Texas!

4th Grade Suggested Shopping List

Hey, Panthers!  Several of you have asked about our "class supply lists." Please know that in elementary school, we don't require students to bring supplies.  However, if you're out shopping and would like to purchase items to help our school's supply budget go a little further...you're more than welcome to do so.  Here's our 4th grade suggested supply list.

WELCOME, TEAM FIELDING!

On behalf of an amazing team of educators and support staff, I would like to welcome you to the Fielding Team! We are excited to have you as a team member!  Whether you are a player with some experience, or new to the Fielding Elementary Team, we can't wait to see you at our upcoming Open House!  Please know that our teachers will still be preparing their classrooms during the Open House. (The final products will be ready for the great unveiling on the first day of school.) Check our website soon to see a "Flipped Open House" video or two. I want to flip some things around a bit here at Fielding, starting with our Back-to-School Open House.  I hope to meet and greet as many of our Panther Families as possible on the evening of the 21st; so I'll introduce myself and share some information ahead of time on the "Flipped Open House" video(s)!

During Back-to-School Night, you will be able to meet your teacher, see and meet lots of friends, join PTA, purchase a school shirt, make a lunch account deposit, sign up to volunteer, and take a tour of the school.  Stay tuned to discover some of the fun things we've got planned for that night!

Just a reminder, our Back-to-School Night Open House is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 21st from 5:00-7:00.  We sure hope to see each of you that night.  Remember!  Stay tuned for some great videos!!
