Welcome Back To School 2020-21
Fielding Elementary School
_______________________________________________________________________
Fielding Panthers and Parents,
Welcome back to the 2020-21 school year! We are so excited to welcome everyone back and have been working hard to make it as safe and comfortable as possible in this difficult time. There will be a lot of changes at Fielding Elementary, both in personnel and in how we do school. Please be patient and understanding with the changes that have to be made for the safety and health of students, teachers, and staff.
First, welcome to our new faculty members. We have Mrs. Peterson in preschool, Ms. Harrah in first grade, Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Duncan in second grade, Ms. Lamborn in fourth grade, and Mrs. Hilton and Mrs. Burrell in fifth grade. We know they will be great additions to our school. Please be aware that there might be changes in posted class lists. You will be notified if we have to make a change.
I know there are a lot of questions and uncertainty in our “Return to Learn”. I will address the most common questions and refer you to other places that questions can be answered.
Here we go:
Masks are required on the bus and at school unless social distancing can be adhered to. Our teachers are being very creative in making “mask free” areas and scheduling “mask breaks” in the day. We don’t expect students to have their masks on for 6-7 hours every day.
The first two weeks of school will be minimum days, from 8:30-12:30. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Fielding has a free breakfast program for all students.
Preschool will begin the week of September 14th.
Kindergarten will be testing the first week. Parents will sign up using a link on our website. This will be available next Monday, August 17th. We ask that only one parent accompany their student to the testing. Masks will be required.
Back to School - Our teachers will be preparing a video to introduce themselves to students. If you feel you and your child need to meet face to face, you will be able to make an appointment to come in and meet the teacher. We will send more information on scheduling appointments.
Teachers will be sending home and presenting lists in their videos of suggested donations needed in their classrooms. Each student will need their own individual school supplies. If you can donate supplies that would be wonderful. If you aren’t able to donate at this time, your student will be provided with the needed supplies.
We will be using the “Remind” platform for our school-wide communication along with Edulink with phone calls and emails. Teachers will provide more information on this.
If your student shows any symptoms of illness do not send them to school. This is important to help us keep our school open and students and staff healthy.
Questions about Box Elder School District’s Return to Learn Plan are on the district website. Please go there if you have any other questions. If you still have unanswered questions please send them to kristi.capener@besd.net.
Fielding Elementary remains dedicated to providing a high-quality education to the children at Fielding Elementary. I am so grateful for your continued support of our students and staff through this challenging time of learning. Together we can accomplish anything.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Capener
